I think that it is made better and feels more solid than the Shimano Stradics. I have a Stradic FI 3000 and 5000. The drag is smooth and reeling is smoother. Note that there is a huge weight difference going from the 40 to the 50...about 10 oz. I've got my sights set on a Cabo 30 or 40 next (14 oz) for speckle trout fishing. I've got the Cabo 50 matched up to a 8' St. Croix for surf fishing. When in the boat, I match it with a 7' Heavy Shimano Sagauro.
I fish exclusively saltwater.
